Parents urged to check this popular silicone toy after a nationwide choking hazard recall
More than 100,000 Zippee Silicone Activity Toys are being recalled nationwide after the CPSC warned that the pull-string ends can pose a serious choking hazard. If you have this popular toddler sensory toy at home, stop using it immediately and check the date code inside the cylinder.
The recalled toy is a teal silicone cylinder with six pull strings. Five of the strings have small spherical ends that can reach the back of a child’s throat. Affected date codes range from 030620 to 110823.
Why it’s being recalled
The spherical ends can reach the back of a child’s throat, which violates federal safety standards for toys intended for young children. One child has already gagged and vomited after placing the toy in their mouth. Fortunately, they were treated and released with no lasting injuries.
What parents should do right now
If you own this toy:
- Remove it from children right away.
- Check the date code printed inside the teal silicone cylinder (030620–110823).
- Visit Mobi Games Recall Page to confirm your version and register your product.
- Take a photo of the toy.
- Cut off the spherical ends and mark the cylinder with your initials and the date.
- Upload the photo to complete your refund request.
Zippee Activity Toys were sold online at Amazon and Play Mobi and in specialty toy stores from November 2019 through January 2024 for approximately $20.
Understanding choking hazards with sensory toys
Sensory toys often include beads, buttons, pull strings or other small detachable parts that can pose choking risks for toddlers. Research published in the International Journal of Pediatrics found that “small parts have caused choking‑related deaths in over 90 children between 2001 and 2012.”
That same source explains that even parts designed to be playful can become lodged in the throat and block airways because of toddlers’ developmental tendency to mouth objects. Doing a quick home safety check, looking for loose parts, strings, beads or damaged attachments, can help prevent accidents before they happen.

What to do next
Once you’ve removed the Zippee toy from play and submitted it for a refund, take a moment to scan other sensory toys in your home. Look for loose parts, worn beads or strings, and anything that could detach during play: these are the most common sources of choking hazards for toddlers.
You can also sign up for CPSC recall alerts to stay ahead of future safety notices.
